Job summary

AES Clean Energy is seeking a Senior Performance Engineer to support the Hawaii O&M Engineering team, analyzing the performance of PV and battery storage projects with microgrid functionality. The role involves collaboration with Operations and Engineering to improve reliability and efficiency, and to develop models representing facility performance.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Engineering or equivalent technical field.
• 5+ years of professional experience in engineering focusing on measuring and maintaining system performance.
• Strong understanding of industry trends in production tools and processes.
• Proficiency with advanced analysis and database tools for metrics and dashboards.
• Ability to work effectively with Microsoft software programs, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Lead transition from projects under construction to operating assets.
• Troubleshoot systems in operation and review performance data to identify problems.
• Perform or review capacity, microgrid/islanding and performance ratio tests for projects in operation.
• Review production estimates and meteorological data sources for accuracy by comparing to operational data.
• Measure fleet performance against established KPI metrics and compare to forecasted performance.
• Produce monthly/quarterly/annual performance reports with detailed variance analysis.
• Lead coordination of grid event analysis and impact on on-site equipment.
• Analyze high-speed performance data to evaluate grid support compliance.
• Perform Job Safety Assessments and Safety Walks to identify hazards.
