Job summary

The AES Corporation is seeking a Field Operations Technician 1 to join our solar+storage operations team in Hawaii. You will perform preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshoot PV modules, inverters, and BESS containers, and support site construction activities while prioritizing safety.

Based onsite at Waikoloa, you will collaborate with the Team Leader and senior technicians, keep accurate documentation, and help ensure reliable power for local communities.

Qualifications

• Technical degree or equivalent journeyman qualification; solar PV experience a plus.
• Experience with PV solar plants, electrical systems, and safety standards (NFPA 70E, OSHA).
• Strong communication and teamwork; ability to read schematics and manuals.
• Proficiency with CMMS, DAS/SCADA, and MS Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Listen, collaborate, and apply knowledge to preventative and corrective O&M tasks.
• Identify unsafe conditions; assist Lead Technician and Regional Safety Manager.
• Support maintenance, equipment checks, and inventory management.
• Coordinate third-party contractors and onboarding as needed.
• Maintain timely documentation including tickets, reports, and safety permits.
• Assist in construction/commissioning activities and regional site readiness.
