Job summary

General Motors in Sunnyvale seeks a software perception validation engineer to define requirements and metrics for perception software enabling safe autonomous vehicle operations. You will own analysis and testing strategies, prototype simulations and road tests, and drive data-driven risk decisions across product lifecycles.

You will mentor teams, coordinate cross-functional validation for new launches, and help shape long-term verification strategies while aligning with GM's Hybrid work policy.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
• Five years of experience as a Software Engineer, Perception Algorithm Developer, or related role.
• Five years of system engineering, robotics, data analysis, and statistical analysis experience.
• Three years of experience with SQL, Python, and C++ for large data sets; evaluating perception systems; and vehicle dynamics basics.

Responsibilities

• Define requirements and metrics for validating perception software to enable safe autonomous vehicle operations.
• Own analysis and characterization of perception systems influencing software development and launch decisions.
• Prototype and develop simulation-based and road-based testing strategies for continuous software releases.
• Own roadmaps for long-term verification/validation and software solutions across lifecycles.
• Mentor team members and coordinate cross-team validation efforts for new launches.
