Job summary

Apptronik in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a senior researcher to lead perception and SLAM efforts for humanoid robots. You will design real-time perception stacks, fuse multi-sensor data, and push models from research to production on edge devices with strict latency requirements.

You will collaborate with RL, platform software, and systems teams to advance Apollo’s autonomy, including world modeling, mapping, and safe human-robot interaction. A PhD or MS with 3+ years in robotics is preferred.

Qualifications

• MS/PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 3–5+ years building perception/SLAM in robotics or real-time vision.
• Experience deploying perception/SLAM on edge hardware.
• Strong background in SLAM, VIO and probabilistic state estimation.
• Proficiency with Python/C++, and AI frameworks like PyTorch or TF.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and optimization of perception and SLAM pipelines for humanoid robots.
• Develop multi-sensor fusion frameworks using cameras, LiDAR, depth sensors, and IMUs.
• Contribute to scalable data pipelines and model deployment.
• Advance learning-based perception for humanoid locomotion and interaction.
• Collaborate with RL, platform software, and systems teams.
