Job summary

Apptronik is seeking a senior researcher to advance perception and SLAM for humanoid robots. You will design and optimize real-time perception pipelines, integrate multi-sensor data, and push models from R&D into production hardware.

You will coordinate with RL, Platform Software, and Systems teams to ensure reliable autonomy and safe operation in dynamic human environments. Strong academic credentials and hands-on edge deployment are essential.

Qualifications

• MS/PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, or related field.
• 3–5+ years shipping perception and/or SLAM in robotics or real-time vision.
• Strong background in SLAM, VIO, probabilistic state estimation, and deep learning for CV.
• Hands-on with detection, segmentation, tracking, 3D mapping, and localization.
• Proficiency in Python and C++, with solid software engineering basics.
• Experience deploying models on edge hardware under compute and latency constraints.

Responsibilities

• Lead perception and SLAM pipelines for humanoid robots, including VO, mapping, and object detection.
• Develop multi-sensor fusion with cameras, LiDAR, depth, and IMUs for real-time state estimation.
• Contribute to data pipelines, training infra, and inference frameworks.
• Drive learning-based perception for humanoid locomotion and manipulation.
• Implement profiling, testing, and telemetry to meet latency and reliability targets.
• Collaborate with planning, control, and hardware teams on perception-to-action interfaces.
• Integrate synthetic data with real-world datasets to improve robustness.
• Promote code quality, model versioning, reproducibility, and deployment practices.
