Job summary

Woven by Toyota seeks a Lead Engineer to drive the multi-year roadmap and architecture for World Understanding software, including perception, mapping, fusion, and on-board/off-board systems. You will guide ML-driven approaches, support data-driven validation, and mentor teams toward scalable, safe autonomy solutions.

You will collaborate with Data, Behavior, Developer Ecosystem, and Product Delivery teams to ensure robust integration and measurable improvements in driving perception and world

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional experience with ML applications or applied science.
• MS or PhD in Machine Learning, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, Aerospace Engineering, or similar.
• Deep expertise in ML algorithms, data-driven methods, and temporal/sequential modeling, including deployment at scale.

Responsibilities

• Drive the technical vision and multi-year strategy for World Understanding software.
• Lead project execution, define engineering processes, and mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to influence technical decisions and drive innovation.
• Develop state-of-the-art models for perception and world understanding across sensor configurations.
• Increase speed of iteration while maintaining cost efficiency.
• Mentor and support engineers through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
• Design reusable software components within an integrated system.
• Ensure maintainable code with simulation, CI, and in-vehicle testing.
• Build validation strategies to resolve complex interactions and evaluate data-driven tradeoffs.
