Job summary

Woven by Toyota is seeking a Lead Engineer to shape the World Understanding software and ML roadmap for autonomous driving. You will guide cross‑functional teams across data, planning, and developer ecosystems to advance perception, mapping, and fusion with scalable ML systems.

You will mentor tech leads, drive data‑driven validation, and accelerate model iteration while upholding safety and cost goals in a globally distributed team.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of ML experience and applied science work.
• MS or PhD in ML, mechanical, electrical, CS, aerospace, or similar.
• Deep expertise in ML algorithms and deployment at scale.
• Strong C++ and Python coding abilities for production code.
• Proven ability to lead in globally distributed teams and communicate clearly.
• Experience with real-time systems, safety processes, and model validation.

Responsibilities

• Drive the multi-year roadmap and technical strategy for World Understanding software.
• Lead project execution, define processes, and mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with Data, Behavior, Developer Ecosystem, and Product teams to drive innovation.
• Develop state-of-the-art models for perception, mapping, and fusion.
• Increase iteration speed while maintaining cost efficiency and safety.
• Mentor engineers, review code, and align solutions with business goals.
