Job summary

Raise Robotics is building autonomous mobility robots for challenging environments and early-scale deployments on construction and industrial sites. The Perception and Localization Engineer will develop real-time mapping, localization, and navigation software, leveraging advanced 3D vision and neural representations to keep a persistent world model onboard.

You’ll validate systems in simulation and on real hardware, transitioning from prototyping to production-ready code while collaborating

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in localization, mapping, and perception.
• Strong SLAM, probabilistic localization, 3D reconstruction, and navigation.
• Experience with 3D visual data and neural representations (Gaussian Splats, NeRFs).
• Familiar with sensor fusion and state estimation (EKF/UKF/particle filters).
• Hands-on experience with real robot systems.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain real-time mapping, localization, and navigation software for mobility robotic systems.
• Implement 3D scene representations using techniques such as 3D Gaussian Splatting, NeRFs, and other neural or volumetric methods.
• Validate mapping and localization systems in simulation and real-world testing, tuning performance for maximum accuracy.
• Develop ML models for estimating depth from cameras and for detecting obstacles on RGB data.

For this role, we are seeking a Perception and Localization Engineer who will develop intelligent software which creates and maintains a persistent internal state of the world onboard the robots.

What we’re looking for:

• At least 4 years of experience working on localization, mapping, and perception problems.
• Strong foundation in SLAM, probabilistic localization, 3D reconstruction, and navigation algorithms
• Expertise working with 3D visual data (point clouds, meshes, etc.) and state of the art neural representations - Gaussian Splats, NeRFs, etc.
• Familiarity with sensor fusion and state estimation (e.g., EKF, UKF, particle filters)
• Hands-on experience with real robot systems - ground, legged, or aerial platforms
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across disciplines
