Job summary

Raise Robotics in New York, NY is seeking a Perception and Localization Engineer to develop real-time mapping, localization, and navigation software for mobility robotic systems. For this role, we are seeking a Perception and Localization Engineer who will develop intelligent software which creates and maintains a persistent internal state of the world onboard the robots.

What we’re looking for:

• At least 4 years of experience working on localization, mapping, and perception problems.
• Strong foundation in SLAM, probabilistic localization, 3D reconstruction, and navigation algorithms
• Expertise working with 3D visual data (point clouds, meshes, etc.) and state of the art neural representations - Gaussian Splats, NeRFs, etc.
• Familiarity with sensor fusion and state estimation (e.g., EKF, UKF, particle filters)
• Hands-on experience with real robot systems—ground, legged, or aerial platforms
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across disciplines

What you’ll do:

• Develop and maintain real-time mapping, localization, and navigation software for mobility robotic systems
• Implement 3D scene representations using cutting-edge techniques such as 3D Gaussian Splatting, NeRFs, and other neural or volumetric methods
• Validate mapping and localization systems in both simulation and real-world testing, tuning performance for maximum accuracy.
• Develop ML models for estimating depth from cameras and for detecting obstacles on RGB data.
