Job summary

Children's Nebraska is seeking an experienced People Relations professional to guide HR policies and improve employee relations in a pediatric healthcare setting.

You will design fair processes, coach leaders, and ensure compliance with employment laws while supporting a diverse and inclusive work culture.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Management, or related field required.
  • 4 years of relevant HR experience may substitute for education.
  • Minimum five years of progressive HR experience.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • PHR or SPHR preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement people relations processes for fair outcomes.
  • Develop policies that strengthen People First culture.
  • Counsel leaders and team members on policy interpretation.
  • Identify and mitigate HR risks and compliance gaps.
  • Work with Legal to ensure employment law compliance.
  • Provide training to frontline leaders on performance and behavior.
  • Conduct complex workplace investigations impartially.
  • Update People Relations policies as needed.
  • Advise on unemployment claims, subpoenas, and hearings.

A Brief Overview

Provides expertise and guidance to team members and frontline leaders in all areas of people relations to include: People First culture building, HR policies and procedures, performance improvement, conflict resolution, and emerging HR best practices.

Essential Functions
  • Design and implement people relations processes and practices to ensure fair, consistent, and respectful outcomes
    • Responsible for creating framework, policies, and people relations practices that strengthen our People First culture
    • Foster a positive employer-team member relationship by promoting consistent People First practices and adherence to our ICARE values
    • Proactively identify, manage, and monitor people relations risks and propose improvement and risk mitigation strategies
    • Work in close collaboration with Legal and Compliance to ensure compliance with employment law regulations and to defend workforce discrimination or harassment claims
    • Provide expert guidance and counsel to team members and frontline leaders related to people relations issues, unemployment claims, subpoenas, hearings and HR policies and procedures
    • Provide coaching and training to frontline leaders to enhance leadership effectiveness in managing performance and behavior issues
    • Conducts complex and sensitive workplace investigations in a thorough, impartial, and compliant manner
    • Provide subject matter expertise in federal, state, employment law and regulatory areas (ex: EOC, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, etc.)
    • Maintains and updates People Relations policies as needed
Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resources, Management, or related field required and
  • 4 years of relevant experience may substitute for education requirement
Experience Qualifications
  • Minimum five years of progressive HR experience required
  • Previous Employee Relations experience preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Skills And Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable state and federal employment and labor laws and government compliance requirements
  • Ability to resolve complaints and counsel leaders and team members on the interpretation of policies and procedures
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and to make sound decisions
  • Sensitivity to the needs of every individual to be treated with respect and fairness
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are necessary to interact with various levels of team members
  • Ability to develop and deliver training for leaders in related subject areas
Licenses and Certifications
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR)-HRCI preferred or
  • Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR)-HRCI preferred
