Job summary

Hippo Insurance seeks a credible, independent People Business Partner to support product, underwriting, actuarial, and other operations. You will diagnose org health, navigate employee relations, and translate business problems into people solutions.

You will partner across functions to deliver talent strategies, coach managers, and lead ER case management while upholding confidentiality and compliance. This role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration in a regulated industry.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive HRBP experience with demonstrated depth in employee relations and performance management.
• Experience supporting technical, product, or business-development oriented organizations preferred; translate technical priorities into people strategy.
• Strong analytical capability; able to interpret workforce data, identify trends, and translate findings into clear recommendations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage ER matters independently and in a consistent, risk-aware, legally sound manner.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to advise with clarity and hold a position under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary People Business Partner to assigned stakeholders across Hippo's business lines and/or core functions.
• Translate complex business priorities into people recommendations; anticipate people risks and provide a clear point of view to leadership.
• Coach managers on performance management, difficult conversations, and team development with practical guidance.
• Partner with L&D to strengthen manager and leadership effectiveness; connect managers to resources and close capability gaps.
• Drive culture and engagement within client groups by identifying issues early and tracking progress.
• Execute ER case management from intake through resolution, with disciplined documentation.
• Advise on policy interpretation, conduct matters, and performance actions; ensure compliant application.
• Partner with People Operations, Talent Acquisition, People Programs, and Total Rewards to deliver integrated programs; surface trends from workforce data.
• Contribute to cross-functional People initiatives and support enterprise priorities.
