Job summary

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of treatment programs and community resources that support recovery from addictive disease and co-occurring disorders.
  • Knowledge of Spanish language a plus.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to cultural influences.
  • Skill in communicating with peers, their families and professional service providers.
  • Skill in time management and self-care.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals in need, and the professional staff of service provider agencies, courts, hospitals, and residential and correctional facilities.
  • Ability to accept multiple pathways to recovery, including medication-assisted treatments, and the appropriate use of psycho pharmacological treatments for mental health diagnoses.

Responsibilities

  • Builds and maintains a trusting professional relationship with the recovery specialist under supervision to help meet job performance goals.
  • Models ethical boundaries between peer and supervisor to ensure ethical boundaries between staff and program participants.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information disclosed during supervision meeting legal requirements.
  • Evaluates and provides feedback of peer recovery specialists' job performance using observation, progress notes reviews, and discussions with people served.
  • Understands and supports core values of peer support and recovery principles in the workplace.
  • Establishes professional relationships based on mutual respect and recovery principles that promote wellness.
  • Assists the program manager and administrative team in data collection and provides input on outcome measures.
  • Completes required training to maintain CPRS certification.
  • Works with peers to develop recovery plans and provide mentoring, mental health services, and linkage to re-entry services.
  • Empowers peers to be self-advocates for their recovery pathway.
  • Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Plus: Three years' lived recovery experience, CPRS certification, and Registered Peer Supervisor certification.
  • Licenses and Certificates: CPRS and Registered Peer Supervisor at time of application.
