Job summary

Pure Storage, Inc. in Santa Clara, CA seeks a Validation Engineer (IC) on the Drive Qualification team to design and execute PCIe-focused validation and debug for Everpure SSDs. Youll own test coverage, develop automated test suites, and drive issues from detection to root cause.

This hands-on role involves lab debugging, cross-functional collaboration with FW/HW teams, and leading test content development within an in-office setting.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of PCIe fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience using PCIe analyzers/exercisers for trace capture and debug.
• Comfortable with Python for test and tooling development; Linux-based validation environments.
• Experience with CI/regression infrastructure for large-scale test execution.
• Strong HW/FW/system boundary debugging and root-cause analysis.
• Clear written and verbal communication; ability to present findings and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Define PCIe test plans covering link training, lane width/speed changes, resets, hot-plug, error injection, and power-management states.
• Execute Gen4/Gen5/Gen6 PCIe tests across platforms; validate SSD behavior under abnormal conditions and provide readouts.
• Develop and maintain automated PCIe test suites; integrate analyzers and test tools into frameworks.
• Triage failures, correlate PCIe traces and logs; collaborate with FW, HW, and systems teams to root-cause fixes.
• Leverage oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and related tools to support signal- and protocol-level debug.
• Lead test coverage improvements and standardize PCIe test APIs and reporting.
