Job summary

Power Device Corporation seeks a Senior PCB Layout Designer to develop high-speed, high-density PCB and hybrid layouts, collaborating across electrical, mechanical, and supplier teams. You will lead 3D packaging, ensure manufacturable designs, and mentor junior designers.

You will work onsite in Bohemia, NY (or Poway, CA) and contribute to design reviews while maintaining controlled drawings and tooling specifications.

Qualifications

• Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent training.
• 6–8 years of PCB design experience with hybrid circuits and discrete-component PCBs.
• Extensive experience with high-speed, high-density, multilayer layouts.
• SolidWorks proficiency for electronics packaging, 3D parts and assemblies, and PCB-to-enclosure fit checks.
• Knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes and ability to produce manufacturable designs.
• Strong attention to detail, clear communication, and ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Experience with Cadence Allegro X 24.1, Cadence OrCAD X 24.1, Pentalogix Viewmate Pro, and BluePrint PCB.

Responsibilities

• Design high-speed, high-density, multilayer PCBs and hybrid circuits, from component placement and routing through final release.
• Coordinate with electrical, mechanical, and process engineers to resolve layout issues and confirm design requirements.
• Use SolidWorks to support electronics packaging, including PCB outlines, component envelopes, enclosures, mounting features, and connector locations.
• Create and update 3D models and mechanical drawings; verify fit, clearances, and alignment between PCB assemblies and packaging.
• Prepare and review PCB fabrication and assembly drawings, Gerber files, and other manufacturing data for accuracy and completeness.
• Work with suppliers and Purchasing to apply fabrication guidelines, resolve manufacturing questions, and verify tooling such as solder screens.
• Participate in design reviews and improve layouts for performance, manufacturability, cost, and reliability.
• Implement Engineering Change Notices and maintain controlled drawings, design files, guidelines, and checklists.
• Mentor junior designers; coordinate with IT and CAD vendors to resolve tool issues, maintain software, and protect design data through access controls and backups.
