Job summary

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities is seeking an Accounting Technician 3 to help Keep Alaska Moving. This role focuses on statewide Purchasing Card (PCard) processing and accurate financial oversight across the department.

Anchorage and Juneau are the primary locations with hourly wages ($31.54 in Anchorage and $33.12 in Juneau, OT eligible). The position emphasizes problem-solving, leadership, and adherence to GAAP and state regulations in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Two years of technical level accounting or bookkeeping experience.
• Substitutions: Accounting Technician certification or college education in accounting.
• Experience with financial transactions, GAAP, and state/federal regulations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as PCard-processing expert, reviewing ~45,000 annual transactions totaling over $10M.
• Main point of contact for PCard questions; supports 150+ processors.
• Lead, train and mentor a team of PCard processors.
• Analyze and certify financial transactions and prepare daily reports.
• Troubleshoot accounting issues using IRIS and GAAP, Alaska regs.
