Job summary

Willamette Family Inc. in Eugene, Oregon, is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to manage the full payroll lifecycle and related reporting.

This hybrid role requires in-office presence in Eugene and offers a starting wage of $34.00 per hour, with annualized compensation around $66,560, depending on experience. You will reconcile payroll, handle timekeeping, deductions, and benefits, and ensure compliance with wage-hour laws while supporting Finance and HR.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of payroll experience.
• Three or more years of Accounting or Human Resources education.
• Valid Oregon Driver’s License.
• Ability to pass required criminal records background check.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Commitment to the agency’s non-discrimination policies.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end semi-monthly payroll process from preparation to processing.
• Review payroll data for accuracy including time, earnings, deductions, taxes, and leave.
• Process payroll changes for new hires, compensation, status changes, and terminations.
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and unusual transactions.
• Maintain payroll procedures, documentation, and internal controls.
• Serve as primary resource for employee and management payroll questions.
• Reconcile payroll-related GL accounts including wages, taxes, and benefits.
• Track and reconcile grant-funded personnel and fringe benefit costs.
• Collaborate with Finance, HR, and Accounts Payable to resolve issues.
• Monitor payroll compliance with wage/hour laws and policies.
• Prepare payroll documentation for audits and grant monitoring.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen payroll processes and controls.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
