Job summary

LANXESS is a leading specialty chemicals company seeking a Payroll Specialist to own payroll accounting and reconciliation, including Vanguard/401k and year-end close. The role is based in Shelton and includes support for U.S. and Canada payroll activities.

The position requires 5–10 years of advanced payroll experience, strong tax and reporting skills, and backup processing responsibilities. Compensation aligns with the stated range and benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of advanced payroll experience in a large multi-state environment
• Experience with payroll accounting, payroll tax, and year-end processing
• Ability to backup payroll processing and resolve complex discrepancies

Responsibilities

• Own payroll accounting and reconciliation activities including month-end close
• Process Vanguard/401k payroll activities and related reconciliations
• Support U.S. and Canada payroll tax compliance and statutory reporting
• Coordinate year-end, quarter-end, and audit activities and respond to requests
• Maintain payroll processing knowledge and provide backup support as needed
• Drive system controls, documentation, and process improvements across payroll
