Job summary

The Clerk of the Circuit Court & Comptroller’s Office in Palm Beach County is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join the Payroll Department, responsible for advanced payroll accounting and ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations. The role includes cross-training other staff and supporting the team in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate has a minimum of five years of payroll experience, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to work

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Five years of payroll experience required.
• Knowledge of payroll processing and reporting.
• Ability to research and resolve payroll discrepancies with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Performs regular processing of payroll activities; audits inputs and maintains payroll data (W-4s, deductions, direct deposits).
• Prepares, processes and audits adjustments, benefits deductions, garnishments, corrections, and final paychecks per policies and laws.
• Uses automated payroll systems to set up deductions, new hires, and tax withholdings.
• Processes payroll system calculations for pre-auditing payroll data and reviews payroll registers for accuracy.
• Provides cross-training and guidance to other payroll staff; assists management with testing and validation of automated systems.
• Responds to payroll inquiries and provides resolution guidance; keeps current on policy changes.
