TheSenior Payroll Specialist will oversee day-to-day payroll operations while providing leadership and guidance to the payroll team. This is a hands-on role responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations, resolving payroll issues, and supporting continuous improvement of payroll processes. The ideal candidate will have strong ADP experience, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to lead and mentor a payroll team in a high-volume environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the full-cycle payroll process for multiple pay groups and/or entities
- Lead, mentor, and provide day-to-day guidance to payroll team members
- Review payroll processing completed by team members for accuracy and completeness
- Process and/or oversee weekly, biweekly, semi-monthly, or other payroll cycles
- Ensure accurate processing of regular wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, deductions, garnishments, reimbursements, and other payroll adjustments
- Utilize ADP platforms to process payroll and maintain employee payroll records
- Review and reconcile payroll reports, payroll registers, tax withholdings, deductions, and general ledger information
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll inquiries in a timely manner
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax requirements
- Manage payroll-related changes including new hires, terminations, promotions, transfers, direct deposit changes, and tax elections
- Coordinate with HR, Benefits, Finance, and other departments to ensure accurate and timely payroll information
- Oversee payroll tax filings, wage reporting, and year-end processes including W-2s and other required forms
- Support garnishments, levies, child support orders, and other payroll deductions
- Assist with payroll audits and provide documentation and reporting as needed
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and efficiencies
- Develop and maintain payroll procedures and documentation
- Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for payroll-related questions and escalations
- Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive employee and payroll information
- Assist with payroll system implementations, upgrades, testing, and process improvements as needed
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, with strong hands-on payroll processing experience
- Previous experience leading, mentoring, or supervising a payroll team
- Strong experience with ADP platforms
- Experience processing high-volume, multi-state payroll preferred
- Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Experience with payroll reconciliations, reporting, audits, and year-end processing
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas, sorting/filtering, and data analysis
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict payroll deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
