Job summary

myHR Partner is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist for a remote, full-time role supporting a diverse portfolio of clients across industries. You’ll own payroll processing, work across multiple platforms, and mentor other payroll professionals.

You’ll collaborate on audits, benefits administration, and large-scale payroll implementations while delivering accurate, on-time payroll. This role requires 5+ years of payroll experience and strong multi-state expertise.

• 5+ years of independent payroll experience across multiple states.
• Experience with audits, benefits administration, and payroll reporting.
• Proven ability to mentor teammates and coach specialists.

Responsibilities

• Own payroll processing for an assigned portfolio of clients, liaising directly with clients on payroll needs.
• Manage payroll across multiple platforms and vendors.
• Lead payroll implementations, transitions, and large-scale projects.
• Build and run payroll reports, conduct payroll audits, and ensure compliance.
• Serve as SME for payroll, coaching other specialists and guiding junior staff.
• Handle audit/support requests (audits, census, workers comp) and respond to client questions timely.
• Address complex payroll issues, ensuring accuracy and risk mitigation.

Senior Payroll Specialist

myHR Partner has a remote full-time Senior Payroll Specialist role available, working with clients across a range of industries and mentoring the rest of our payroll team along the way. What you’ll do

Our clients depend on us for accurate, on-time payroll and benefits administration. Each client keeps their own vendor of choice, so no two days look the same. Your day-to-day may include:

• Work across multiple payroll and HR tech platforms - we currently use ADP, Paylocity, Workday, iSolved, Bamboo, Gusto and more
• Own payroll processing for an assigned portfolio of clients, working directly with them on payroll-related needs
• Have the tough conversations when a client's payroll practices put them at risk, and help them get back on track
• Serve as the main point of contact for payroll information during audits, benefits census requests, and workers' comp reviews
• Manage payroll compliance work: year-end tasks, state-specific requirements, and everything in between
• Support employee benefits administration, reporting, and payroll setup as needed
• Lead payroll implementations, transitions, and other large-scale projects
• Build and run custom payroll reports, and conduct payroll audits
• Serve as a payroll subject matter expert for the team, coaching and mentoring other Specialists

• Experience: 5+ years of payroll experience working at an independent level, with solid multi-state experience. Bonus if you've handled California or New York!

• Client-Facing Experience: We love it if you've worked directly with clients before, but we don't want to overlook great talent if the rest of your background is strong, we're flexible here!
• Location: We offer remote positions within the Eastern and Central time zones only. Sorry West Coast - it's not you, it's us.
• Schedule: This is a full-time, salaried, W2 role. Our core business hours are 8:30am–5:00pm EST, Monday through Friday, with Mondays-Wednesdays tending to be the heaviest days across our payroll team.
• Software Skills: Well-versed in MS Office; the more payroll platforms you've touched, the better. ADP, Paylocity, and Workday experience are especially useful.
• Adaptability: You're good at building relationships and adjusting your style across a diverse client base.
