Job summary

Burke, Williams & Sorensen LLP is seeking a full-time Payroll & Retirement Plan Administrator to join its Accounting Department in Los Angeles. You will manage the full payroll lifecycle, ensure compliance, and administer Fidelity retirement plan operations, while collaborating with HR, accounting, and external vendors.

The role requires seven years of payroll experience, multi-state payroll exposure, and CPP designation preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
• Minimum seven years of progressive payroll administration experience.
• Experience managing payroll for 250+ employees.
• Experience supporting multi-state payroll administration.
• Experience administering a 401(k) or retirement plan.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and payroll systems.

Responsibilities

• Own and administer the full payroll lifecycle for all employees.
• Audit payroll transactions for accuracy and compliance.
• Process compensation changes, bonuses, deductions, and garnishments.
• Ensure timely payroll processing and year-end activities (W-2).
• Maintain confidential payroll records and respond to inquiries.
• Reconcile payroll accounts and retirement contributions.
• Prepare payroll journal entries and reports.
• Serve as primary administrator for Fidelity retirement Plan.
• Coordinate audits and required reporting for retirement plans.
• Identify process improvements and system enhancements.
• Support close processes and labor cost reporting.
