Job summary

Mariner Finance seeks an experienced Payroll Leader in Alabama to oversee end-to-end payroll processing for a large workforce. You will drive accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across biweekly cycles, partnering with HR, Finance, and external vendors.

Responsibilities include improving controls, enabling audits, and ensuring federal, state, and local payroll compliance while maintaining confidentiality and driving process improvements.

Qualifications

• Six+ years in progressive payroll roles in high-volume environments.
• Experience handling multi-state payroll for large workforces.
• Hands-on leadership of payroll operations and team performance.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws.
• Experience with Dayforce or UKG is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end payroll for multi-state biweekly cycles.
• Administer payroll systems, testing, upgrades, and issue resolution.
• Develop and improve payroll processes and internal controls.
• Lead payroll audits and year-end activities (W-2, ACA).
• Ensure compliance with payroll laws and reporting.
• Partner with HR, Finance, Legal, and vendors.
• Manage confidential information and business continuity.
