SkyWater Search Partners is partnering with a growing commercial construction/services organization to hire a Payroll Manager. This role owns end-to-end payroll for multiple states and populations, including union and non-union, during a system transition.

You will build processes, strengthen controls, and partner with HR, Finance, and operations while ensuring compliance and data integrity. The base salary is $95,000–$115,000 with bonus, and the company offers a robust benefits package.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive payroll leadership with multi-state scope.
• Significant union payroll experience is required.
• Experience handling complex payroll environments across multiple locations.
• Strong knowledge of payroll taxes, wage laws, and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end, high-volume payroll operations across multiple states and populations.
• Manage weekly payroll for union and non-union employees.
• Lead and develop payroll staff and partner with payroll admins across branches.
• Drive system transition, standardization, and process improvements.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and wage/hour requirements.
• Support prevailing wage, union reporting, and fringe benefits administration.
• Champion SOX controls, documentation, and audit readiness.
• Oversee payroll adjustments, garnishments, and related deductions.
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, Benefits, IT, and operations leadership.
