Burnett Staffing Specialists in Houston, TX seeks an experienced Payroll Manager to lead a growing, multi-state payroll team for 1,300+ employees across 26 states. This on-site role reports to the Controller and partners with Accounting, HR and Operations to optimize processes, controls and ERP integrations.

You will oversee payroll accuracy, tax compliance, and timekeeping, while developing staff and implementing automation to scale the operation.

Qualifications

Proven experience leading a payroll team and developing staff.
Strong multi-state payroll leadership experience across entities.
Advanced ADP Workforce Now experience with payroll and timekeeping.
Solid payroll tax, compliance, reconciliation and accounting knowledge.
Experience with payroll controls, process improvement, and ERP integrations.

Responsibilities

Lead, coach and develop the payroll team across states and entities.
Oversee accurate multi-state and multi-entity payroll processing.
Review payroll for accuracy, resolve complex issues and escalations.
Act as payroll and ADP Workforce Now SME and drive improvements.
Oversee pay practices, payroll accounting, reconciliations and labor allocations.
Ensure payroll controls, documentation and ERP integrations are solid.
Partner with Accounting on payroll-to-GL and ERP interfaces.
Maintain compliance with federal, state and local payroll/tax laws.
