Texas Pipe And Supply Company in Houston, TX is seeking a Payroll Manager to lead a large payroll operation across multiple states. The role focuses on accuracy, timeliness, and compliance while guiding a payroll team and partnering with HR, Accounting, and Operations.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in high-volume payroll, strong leadership, and expertise in HRIS and payroll systems. This onsite position supports audits, reporting, and system improvements.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible payroll experience, including high-volume payroll processing and multi-state payroll administration.
• Experience managing payroll operations and direct reports with understanding of payroll practices, controls, deductions, final pay, and employee recordkeeping.
• Excellent attention to detail, sound judgment, and ability to meet deadlines, investigate discrepancies, and resolve payroll issues.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a service-oriented approach and collaboration across departments.
• Proficiency in Excel, payroll systems, HRIS platforms, and timekeeping applications.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality handling sensitive employee and payroll information.
• Experience training employees and managers on payroll and timekeeping processes.
• On-site work Monday through Friday.

Responsabilités

• Lead, coach, and develop the payroll team with direction and oversight of daily operations.
• Oversee accurate and timely multi-state payroll, including payroll requests, changes, checks and approvals.
• Review payroll data, conduct weekly audits, coordinate corrections, ensure timely resolution.
• Oversee payroll tax administration and compliance with federal/state/local requirements, including year-end reporting.
• Manage payroll accounting activities with GL coding, allocations, reconciliations, and ERP integrations.
• Prepare and ensure accuracy of recurring management reports.
• Strengthen payroll controls, documentation, and procedures.
• Support payroll-related audits (workers' comp, 401(k) and reconciliations).
• Oversee payroll system administration, including user access, system audits, and payroll-related updates.
• Serve as payroll SME, advising HR, Accounting, Operations, employees, and managers on policies and complex issues.
