Job summary

ID.me is hiring a Payroll Manager to own end-to-end payroll for a growing U.S. workforce. You will partner with People Ops, Finance, and Legal to ensure accurate, timely payroll processing and strong compliance as the company scales.

The role requires deep technical payroll expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to implement process improvements and automation. This is an on-site role in Mountain View, CA with a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including at least 2 years in a payroll management or lead role.
• Hands-on multi-state U.S. payroll experience for 300+ employees.
• Strong knowledge of federal/state payroll taxes, wage/hour laws, and payroll accounting principles.
• Experience processing equity compensation (RSUs and stock options).
• Excellent communication and discretion with sensitive data.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end payroll cycle for all U.S. employees across multiple states.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and wage laws.
• Process garnishments, bonuses, commissions, and equity events.
• Reconcile payroll GL accounts and assist with month-end close.
• Manage relationships with payroll providers and tax agencies; oversee system administration.
• Audit benefits deductions and 401(k) contributions.
• Manage quarterly/annual payroll tax filings and year-end processes.
• Maintain internal controls and support audits.
• Identify process improvements and automation as headcount grows.
• Respond to payroll inquiries with high service level and confidentiality.
