Job summary

ID.me is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to own end-to-end payroll operations for our growing, multi-state U.S. workforce.

You will partner with People Ops, Finance, and Legal to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing while improving processes as the company scales. The role requires 5+ years of payroll experience, multi-state expertise, and strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive payroll experience including 2+ years in a lead role
• Multi-state U.S. payroll processing for 300+ employees
• Strong knowledge of federal/state payroll tax regs and wage/hour laws
• Experience with a major payroll/HRIS platform
• Experience processing RSUs and stock options in payroll
• High attention to detail and deadline-driven
• Excellent communication and confidentiality in handling employee data

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end payroll cycle for all U.S. employees across multiple states
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
• Process garnishments, bonuses, commissions, and equity-related events
• Reconcile payroll GL accounts and support month-end close
• Manage relationships with payroll providers, tax agencies, and benefits vendors
• Audit benefits deductions and 401(k) contributions
• Manage quarterly/annual payroll tax filings and year-end processes
• Maintain internal controls and assist with audits
• Identify process improvements and automation as headcount grows
• Respond to payroll inquiries with high service level and confidentiality
• Stay current on multi-state nexus and remote-work tax implications
• Support ad hoc reporting for Finance/HR/Exec leadership
