Job summary

Knighted seeks an experienced Director of Payroll to own the payroll function across multiple entities, ensuring timely, accurate processing and strict compliance. The role reports to the CFO and leads a team to scale payroll systems, controls, and year-end reporting.

The ideal candidate has 8–10+ years in payroll, multi-state experience, strong UKG expertise, and CPP is preferred; bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance required.

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years of progressive payroll experience with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership or management role.
• Demonstrated experience managing multi-entity and multi-state payroll in a complex, high-volume environment.
• Advanced knowledge of UKG with strong familiarity with other major payroll platforms.
• CPP certification preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and ensure accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly and off-cycle payrolls across multiple entities.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and best practices across multiple jurisdictions.
• Lead year-end reporting including W-2s, W-2Cs, and 1099s.
• Develop, implement, and improve payroll policies, processes, and internal controls.
• Mentor payroll team and act as escalation point for complex issues and audits.
