Job summary

SolomonEdwards is seeking a Senior Payroll Analyst to manage complex payroll operations across multiple payrolls in a hybrid Reading, PA environment. The role requires independent work on advanced payroll activities, expatriate payroll support, and leadership for payroll initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of payroll experience, a Bachelor's degree, and CPP certification, with strong analytical skills and expertise in HCM systems integration and tax compliance.

  • Strong understanding of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor payroll team members and prioritize work.
  • Back up payroll leadership and support daily operations.
  • Coordinate resources for payroll projects and initiatives.
  • Create and maintain complex payroll queries, reports, and analyses.
  • Support special payroll-related projects.

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Analyst to support the accurate and timely administration of complex payroll operations across multiple payrolls. This position will work independently on advanced payroll activities, provide analytical support, lead key payroll initiatives, and serve as a resource to both internal stakeholders and payroll team members. The ideal candidate will bring strong payroll expertise, advanced analytical skills, and experience supporting payroll systems, compliance, integrations, and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently manage complex payroll processing, maintenance, verification, reconciliation, and reporting activities across multiple payrolls.
  • Perform reconciliations of payroll-related accrual and general ledger accounts.
  • Support and manage expatriate payroll activities, including balance sheet reviews, approvals, and tax compliance requirements.
  • Serve as a functional payroll lead for mergers, acquisitions, organizational integrations, and other corporate development initiatives.
  • Lead payroll-related development, testing, and implementation activities associated with HCM system upgrades, enhancements, and tax updates.
  • Analyze payroll processing issues, identify root causes, and recommend effective solutions and industry best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll procedures, controls, documentation, and operational efficiency.
  • Provide recommendations to payroll leadership regarding process improvements and system enhancements.
  • Respond to complex or non-standard payroll inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and direction to payroll team members and assist with work prioritization as needed.
  • Serve as a backup to payroll leadership and support day-to-day team operations when required.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources in support of payroll projects and operational initiatives.
  • Create and maintain complex payroll queries, spreadsheets, reports, and data analyses.
  • Support special projects and other payroll-related responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification required.
  • 8+ years of progressive payroll experience.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across teams.
  • Strong business judgment and decision-making skills.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to identify opportunities for process improvement.
