National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking an on-site Accountant - Payroll to join our accounting team in West Chester, OH.

This role handles weekly or bi-weekly payroll across multiple states, ensuring accuracy, compliance with GAAP, and timely processing. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting, at least 3 years payroll experience—including certified/payroll in prevailing wage—and strong Excel and accounting software skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3 years in accounting processing payroll.
• Experience with payroll in multiple states.
• Experience with certified payroll and prevailing wage.
• Advanced skills in accounting software and Excel.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Detail oriented and deadline-driven.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly and/or bi-weekly payroll.
• Maintain payroll records and ensure accuracy of employee data.
• Ensure conformity to GAAP, FASB, and regulatory guidelines.
• Calculate wages, overtime, and deductions in multiple states.
• Reconcile accrued expenses and bank statements; assist audits.
• Process multi-state payroll for 200+ employees.
• Process multi-state payroll tax returns.
