National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) is seeking an on-site Accountant - Payroll to join our accounting team in West Chester, OH.

This role handles weekly or bi-weekly payroll across multiple states, ensuring accuracy, compliance with GAAP, and timely processing. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting, at least 3 years payroll experience—including certified/payroll in prevailing wage—and strong Excel and accounting software skills.

Job Title: Accountant - Payroll

Reports To: Controller

Travel: This position does not require travel.

Supervisory Responsibility: None.

Compensation: Negotiable salary, based on skills and experience.

Job Duties

• Process weekly and/or bi-weekly payroll.
• Maintain payroll records and ensure accuracy of employee data.
• Responsible for conformity to all regulatory GAAP, FASB, local, state, and federal guidelines.
• Accurately calculate wages, overtime, and deductions in multiple states.
• Enforce internal business controls, policies, and procedures.
• Work on special projects as required.
• Ensure the accuracy of the accounting records through well prepared monthly reconciliations and detailed analysis.
• Assist with financial audits and tax returns.
• Reconcile accrued expenses and bank statements.Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and reporting.
• Process Multi-State Payroll for 200+ employees.
• Process Multi-State Payroll tax returns.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in an office setting. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with flexibility to meet tight deadlines.
