Job summary

Flex is a growth-stage FinTech with NYC headquarters redefining rent payments. We are hiring a Principal Product Manager, Payments to lead our end-to-end payments platform—vaulting, authorization, processing, reconciliation, and refunds across methods.

You will shape platform strategy and drive scalable, compliant solutions with Risk, Finance, Ops, and Engineering. You think in systems, balance UX, risk, and cost, and mentor a high-performing PM team.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of product experience, with at least 3+ years in payments, fraud, or platform product roles at fintech/b2b2c fintechs.
• Deep understanding of the payments ecosystem: authorization, retries, tokenization, gateways, fraud systems, card networks.
• Balance UX, cost optimization, fraud risk, and regulatory requirements in product decisions.
• Strong technical acumen and systems thinking; collaborate with engineers to design scalable systems.
• Proven ability to mentor PMs while maintaining ownership and driving results.
• Bonus: experience with payment processors, dispute automation, or expanding payment options in regulated environments.

Responsibilities

• Shape the cross-functional platform product strategy.
• Own Flex’s payments platform strategy end-to-end: vaulting, authorization, processing, reconciliation, and refunds across all methods.
• Drive down payment processing costs through smarter routing, retry logic, and fraud/dispute efficiency.
• Build and scale fraud detection and dispute infrastructure to reduce losses with minimal user friction.
• Expand payment method coverage across cards, bank transfers, wallets with proper controls and visibility.
• Partner with Risk, Finance, Ops, and Engineering to align on goals and build compliant, scalable solutions.
• Lead and grow a high-performing PM team, coaching while maintaining ownership and quality.
• Define success metrics and build dashboards, tooling, and processes to measure performance.
