Job summary

GoFundMe is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join our Payments organization on the Payouts team, helping us build and scale next-generation payments infrastructure capable of handling billions of dollars in transactions.

You’ll serve as a senior IC on the team responsible for ledgering money movement and getting money out to the people who need it, while leading architecture decisions and hands-on contributions. This hybrid role is based in San Francisco.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of relevant experience in payment systems and building scalable infrastructure.
• Experience architecting services and systems to enable future growth.
• Proven ability to lead projects from conception to completion with clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Refine and execute multi-year payments strategy to grow giving and move in-house core payments capabilities.
• Design and implement end-to-end product lifecycle for payout solutions from ideation to launch and iteration.
• Collaborate with engineers, product, design, and partners to build next-gen payments infrastructure.
• Own critical technical decisions across ledgering, money movement, and disbursement, reducing future change costs.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews and pair programming, driving improvements to the codebase.
