Job summary

Lower Umpqua Hospital seeks a Patient Account Representative III to manage patient accounts from initial billing through collection. You will process claims (1500/UB04), verify eligibility, and follow up on reimbursements, while resolving denials and working with insurers and patients.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum two years of billing and/or collections experience desirable.
• Experience with computers and Microsoft Office Suite required.
• Basic typing skills with accuracy and 10-key by touch.
• Ability to read and understand billing requirements and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Process all assigned patient accounts from billing through collection of amounts due.
• Submit 1500 and/or UB04 claim forms to insurance carriers.
• Verify eligibility and review claim processing using insurance portals.
• Conduct follow-up for reimbursement and handle appeals when needed.
• Prepare denial letters and manage ATB reports as directed.
• Respond to inquiries from patients, carriers, and physicians.
• Collaborate with departments to improve cash receivables and patient satisfaction.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient and health system information.
