Job summary

Sentara Health in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Senior Patient Access Representative for the Emergency Department registration teams. The role involves registering patients, mentoring staff, and serving as a system super-user, with on-call rotations and participation in interviews and QA processes.

The position is full-time with rotating shifts and opportunities for advancement within Patient Access, including potential promotion to Team Coordinator.

Qualifications

• 2 years of Customer Service and/or Data Entry experience
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in lieu of two years of experience
• Two years of previous experience in a healthcare environment in a related area
• Proficiency in Keyboarding

Responsibilities

• Register patients for the Emergency Department and other registration areas
• Serve as registration system super-user to assist Team Leader and department leadership
• Take on on-call rotation during the week and on weekends
• Participate in interviewing processes, prepare and review reports
• Perform QA audits and mentor/train staff
• Manage department supply levels and participate in meetings and workgroups

The Senior Patient Access Representative is a working resource to the patient registration teams. Responsibilities include registering patients for the Emergency Department, and/or various registration areas of the hospital. The Patient Access Team Leader also assists the Team Coordinator and department leadership by serving as registration system super-user, taking on-call rotation during the week and on the weekends, participating in the interviewing process, preparing and reviewing reports, performing QA audits, mentoring and training staff, managing department supply levels, and participating in meetings and workgroups. The Team Lead is required to meet the written requirements and competency to serve as a preceptor and to provide department orientation.
