The Position
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Patent Litigation Paralegal to support our trial teams on complex, high-stakes IP matters. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who is comfortable owning critical aspects of case management from pre-suit through appeal, and who thrives in a tech-forward, collaborative, and flexible work environment. The Senior Paralegal will play a central role in document management, docketing, discovery, and trial support, working closely with attorneys, clients, vendors, and experts to keep matters running smoothly and efficiently. And as a tech-forward law firm, this position will require a candidate who is energized by discovering and embracing emerging technologies and optimizing workflows.
Qualifications
- Significant experience (preferably 8+ years) as a patent litigation paralegal
- Deep familiarity with the litigation lifecycle, including discovery, pretrial, and trial tasks and processes
- Hands‑on experience with e‑discovery platforms and document management tools (e.g., Relativity, DISCO, Everlaw, or similar)
- Proven ability to manage large document productions, including ESI handling, production formatting, and quality control
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters, dockets, priorities, and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with meticulous attention to detail
- Comfort working with technical subject matter and the ability to quickly learn new tools and processes
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a key member of a remote, distributed team
- High degree of professionalism, discretion, and client‑service orientation, with ownership mentality
- Bachelor’s degree and/or paralegal certificate preferred (or equivalent experience)
Responsibilities
- Case & Document Management
- Organize and manage case documents in Avantech’s case management platform and with e‑discovery vendors
- Maintain matter files, including ECF filings and docketing, to ensure accurate and up‑to‑date records
- Discovery & E‑Discovery
- Manage document collection and ingestion from clients and third parties, coordinating with vendors and IT personnel
- Prepare, format, and manage document productions (including metadata and load files) in compliance with ESI protocols and court rules
- Monitor new e‑discovery product offerings and developments to help ensure Avantech leverages the most effective tools and workflows
- Litigation & Trial Support
- Assist in preparing and serving/filing written discovery, pleadings, motions, and briefs in federal court (PACER) and USPTO (P-TACTS)
- Perform proofreading, and consistency review for filings and correspondence
- Handle deposition logistics and prepare witness kits, exhibit lists, deposition bundles, and hearing/trial binders
- Prepare for and attend trials, providing in‑court and behind‑the‑scenes support to the trial team
- Attorney & Operational Support
- Conduct factual investigations and general research using online databases and other resources, with attorney guidance
- Provide proactive support to attorneys and clients as needed across all phases of litigation
- Assist with the processing of vendor invoices and enter information into firm systems
- Leadership & Process Improvement
- Help develop and refine internal procedures and best practices for paralegal activities
- Train and mentor junior paralegals and other staff as the team grows
Compensation
Avantech’s compensation structure is competitive with other leading law firms. The anticipated salary for this position ranges from $110,000–$140,000, depending on location, experience and billing goal.

Work Location
This position is remote, with in‑person meetings and collaboration as needed. Travel requirements outside of the typical demands of a nationwide litigation practice (including trials located throughout the country) are expected to be minimal.
