The Firm’s litigation work is often highly visible to the public. Our work is rewarding, and we are tremendously proud of the superior services our team can provide to our clients. Our Firm strongly values our colleagues as well as our clients. We believe that when you enjoy working with a great team, and know that your contributions make a difference, your professional life can and should be enjoyable and rewarding. We are proud to be recognized for both the quality of our work and the strong spirit of collaboration among all members of our team.

Summary/Objective

We are seeking a detail-oriented, proactive litigation paralegal to join our growing team to assist attorneys with case strategy, draft pleadings, and leverage cutting-edge eDiscovery tools to manage documents. You will work collaboratively with attorneys, legal assistants, and clients. You will thrive in a supportive culture that values teamwork, initiative, and professional growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drafting & Editing: Prepares initial drafts, proofreads, cite checks, and formats legal documents such as motion and discovery shells, letters, and exhibits and prepares trial binders and agreements, ensuring strict adherence to court rules and firm style guides.
  • Trial & Hearing Preparation: Coordinates the assembly of exhibits, binders, and required documentation for depositions, hearings, trials, or client presentations.
  • Discovery Protocol & Execution: Assists attorneys in drafting discovery requests, interrogatories, requests for production, deposition notices, subpoenas, and privilege logs. Manages preservation notices, legal holds, and native ESI (Electronically Stored Information) collections.
  • AI & eDiscovery Management: Utilizes AI-assisted eDiscovery and document management platforms (e.g., Lexbe, Relativity, Everlaw, DISCO, Briefpoint or their equivalent) to organize, code, search, process, and analyze large document productions and databases. Comfortable with PDF manipulation, redacting, and OCR processing and uses AI tools to accelerate early case assessments, perform document review, draft initial discovery responses, and flag privileged material under attorney supervision.
  • Filing & Docketing: Handles state (CA), federal, tribal court, and administrative tribunal filings, both e‑filings (CM/ECF) and physical filing systems; accurately calendars court deadlines, case milestones, and hearing dates to mitigate scheduling risks. Monitors active case dockets, and downloads and distributes court documents.
  • Case Matter Management: Updates and maintains client data, matter profiles, and conflict‑checking systems with a high degree of data integrity. Owns case files from inception through resolution. Coordinates complex calendars, scheduling client consultations, depositions, and internal team meetings across multiple offices in different time zones.
  • Legal Research & Fact‑Finding: Conducts legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, or specialized AI legal research platforms; synthesizes case law and factual evidence into clear summaries to support case strategy and briefing.
  • Other duties as needed, to include administrative backup support as needed.
Qualifications
  • A paralegal certificate or 5+ years of paralegal experience in a private law firm with an emphasis on litigation.
  • Advanced knowledge of California and Federal district courts and procedures. Experience with or a demonstrated willingness to learn Appellate Courts, Tribal Courts, and Administrative tribunals and related procedures.
  • Advanced knowledge of legal software and E-discovery platforms such as PACER, CM/ECF/E-Filing, Sharefile, TrueFiling, Law ToolBox, RelativityOne, Nextpoint, Lexbe or their equivalent
  • AI experience
  • Tech Savvy: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe, and Power Point) required with experience administering external collaboration portals and virtual data rooms (such as ShareFile, SharePoint or their equivalent).
  • High level of accuracy in document drafting, formatting, and proofreading, including citation verification and source pulling.
  • Critical thinking skills, superior communication and organization skills, the ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously, decisive judgment, high attention to detail, and the ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work independently with a high degree of professionalism and discretion.
  • Proactive, team-first attitude and a genuine interest in the work we perform and client service.
  • A deep understanding of attorney-client privilege and the necessity of keeping all firm matters strictly confidential.
