Job summary

Monolithic Power Systems, Inc. is seeking a Senior Patent Engineer to join our Intellectual Property Group in San Jose. The role involves building and maintaining the patent portfolio, collaborating with engineering and business teams to advise on IP strategy, and supporting patent prosecution worldwide.

Required qualifications include a Master’s in Electrical Engineering, US PTO admission, 4–6 years of patent experience, and excellent communication skills. A J.D. is preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Admitted to the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office.
• 4–6 years’ experience with a law firm and/or a corporation.
• Experience with preparation and prosecution of US patents.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• J.D. from an accredited law school is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify research that may be subject to filing of patent applications.
• Participate in patent application preparation and prosecution worldwide.
• Analyze patents and prepare infringement and validity opinions.
• Conduct educational client seminars and courses on intellectual property.
• Develop strategy for R&D and Product groups on how they can strengthen patents for products.
