Job summary

California Job Shop seeks an experienced Patent Agent (Electrical) to join its patent prosecution group within the Intellectual Property and Technology Division. The role involves drafting and prosecuting U.S.

and foreign patent applications, assessing patentability, and supporting freedom-to-operate and due-diligence efforts. Required: a technical degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, USPTO registration, excellent writing and communication skills, and at least 5 years of patent

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent required.
• U.S. Patent & Trademark Office registration required.
• Exceptional writing, analytical, and communication skills.
• Minimum 5 years of patent preparation and prosecution experience.
• Experience managing patent prosecution docket and ownership of applications.

Responsibilities

• Draft and globally prosecute U.S. and foreign patent applications.
• Provide patentability assessments and assist with freedom-to-operate and due-diligence.
• Coordinate with foreign firms and clients on filings and deadlines.
• Maintain client patent portfolios and manage deadlines.
• Meet annual billable hour targets (e.g., 1650 hours).
