Responsibilities
Attorney Responsibilities
- Work with inventors to fully document and disclose their invention
- Conduct prior art searches and opinion reports
- Draft and prosecute patent applications
- Conduct infringement reviews and patentability searches and draft reports
- Analyze client needs, identify solutions, and determine case strategies
- Conduct research and draft pleadings, briefs, and motions
- Provide legal counsel to clients by analyzing their needs and determining a proper course of action
- Prepare legal correspondence including Cease & Desist letters
- Prepare and negotiate settlement agreements, license agreements, vendor agreements and customer agreements
- Appear in court on behalf of clients and argue motions during legal proceedings
- Preside over paralegals and administrative assistants in connection with client work,keeping track of time records, reviewing client billing, setting up client meetings and completing client projects
Qualifications
Must haves:
- Registered Patent Practitioner
- Significant understanding of and experience with patent law, from prior art searches through grant and post-grant . Demonstrated effectiveness through results
- Significant experience and facility with federal litigation in intellectual property cases. Demonstrated effectiveness through results
- Superior legal writing and pride in your work
- Enthusiastic about understanding client needs
- Significant experience and facility drafting, reviewing, and negotiating intellectual property license agreements, End User License Agreements, Terms of Use and Privacy Policies, Master Service Agreements, and other contracts relating to IP

- Directness – willingness and ability to communicate clearly and directly to supervisors, clients, and coworkers even in situations of conflict
- Ability and willingness to follow IP Works procedures and policies, including leveraging worksheets, templates, and support staff, to ensure quality work (meeting our standards) is delivered consistently, efficiently, and profitably
- Likes litigation, fighting for people who are being wronged
