About:

• Position Title: Senior Pastor
• Position Type: Full Time
• Affiliation: Ordained Southern Baptist Pastor
• Salary: Salary and benefits based on experience

Position Summary: Teacher, leader, overseer, and counselor charged with helping to shape the vision, direction and messaging for the congregation and church. Providing religious, moral, and emotional support for the ever-changing needs of the congregation. This includes shaping the church’s mission, its messaging, making determinations about programs, events, community support initiatives, missions and trips, expansion efforts, and overall church operations. Passion for sharing Jesus and a heart for children.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and deliver sermons on Sundays for Mount Carmel and a local nursing home, and message on Wednesday nights.
• Demonstrate love, care, and willingness to help through outreach to the sick, shut-ins, current and prospective members.
• Work with deacons, church council, and committees as they perform their assigned responsibilities.
• Moderate business meetings, council meetings, and monthly prayer meetings.
• Participate in church outreach programs such as Vacation Bible School, Fellowship of Christian Athletes Banquet, and different community activities throughout the year.
• Serve as administrator of paid and volunteer church staff and supervise the work of the ministry staff.
• Maintain knowledge of the Lake Ozark Baptist Association, Missouri Baptist Convention, and the Southern Baptist Convention in matters of mutual interest and concern.
• Develop supportive relationships with individuals in the congregation.
• Provide counsel and assistance to people going through life transitions and support during difficult times.
• If married, he will have complete support from his wife for the call to a new place of ministry.
• Establish and protect the vision and mission of Mount Carmel Baptist Church in council with Pastoral Staff and Deacons.
• Oversee the administration of the ordinances of baptism, communion, weddings, and funerals.
• Have an evangelist heart, sharing the gospel in and out of church.

Preferred Qualifications:

• A strong personal faith in Jesus Christ, demonstrating spiritual leadership abilities and commitment to living out biblical principles in daily life. He meets the qualifications of an overseer as referenced in Titus 1:5-9 and 1 Timothy 3:1-7.
• Hold to the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
• Minimum 5 years of pastoral ministerial experience.
• Effective communication skills.
• Ordained to the gospel ministry.
• Submit to a background check during the application process.
