Job summary

First Baptist Church in Dickson, TN seeks a Pastor to lead worship, preach, teach, and shepherd the congregation. The Pastor will set spiritual direction and guide staff in strategic planning and outreach, serving as a model of faith in daily life.

Requirements include ordination in a Southern Baptist church, a Master of Divinity, and at least five years of pastoral ministry with staff supervision; a terminal degree is preferred. This full-time role includes evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Ordained in a Southern Baptist Church.
• Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from a nationally accredited seminary or university.
• Confessed/Professed doctrine consistent with the Baptist Faith and Message, Church Covenant and Constitution.
• Agrees to abide by FBC Personnel Policy and Employee Code of Ethics and Rules of Conduct.
• Demonstrates a high level of integrity.
• Demonstrates compassion for the flock.
• 5 years experience of pastoral ministry involving preaching and staff supervision.
• Terminal degree (Ph D, D Min) from a Southern Baptist seminary or university (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver sermons for Sunday services and teach Wednesday services.
• Provide pastoral care and spiritual guidance to church members and staff.
• Provide short-term counseling to church members.
• Work with staff and church standing committees to set spiritual and strategic goals for the church.
• Actively participate in church ministry outreach.
• Actively participate in denominational and kingdom activities including conferences and seminars.
• Actively participate in events within the community and build relationships with community leaders.

Job description

The Pastor of First Baptist Church is responsible for setting the spiritual direction of the church to advance the Gospel of Jesus and His Kingdom. The pastor leads the Church and its staff as an example of following Jesus in all of life. He leads the Church in preaching, teaching and pastoring the people of the Church, focusing on honoring God’s word and bringing people to an understanding of the Word of God. He leads the Ministry staff in spiritual and strategic planning for the Church and the ongoing work. The Pastor will participate in Church ministry outreach, pastoral visitation, and hospital visitation. He will participate in denominational and kingdom activities to advance the Gospel and connect the strategic direction of the church. The Pastor leads as disciple maker, illustrating a love for Jesus and the people of the church. He should meet the standards for a pastor as described in I Timothy 3: 1-7.
