SBC Executive Committee in Tigard, Oregon, is seeking a full-time Pastor to lead the congregation in worship, teaching, and pastoral care. The pastor will work with deacons and staff to foster discipleship, growth, and gospel-centered living within the church and community.
The role requires adherence to Baptist beliefs, ordination (or eligibility), and collaboration across ministries to fulfill church mission and governance.
We are a fellowship of believers who have voluntarily banded together for worship, growth, service, and mission. We have Christ as our head and the Bible as our sole source of authority. The government of this church is vested in the body of believers who compose its membership. As a congregation, we act in the light of Scriptures under the leadership of the Holy Spirit. We are an autonomous body of believers that are not under the control of any other ecclesiastical body. We have associated ourselves nationally with the Southern Baptist Convention, regionally with the Northwest Baptist Convention, & locally with the Interstate Baptist Association.
We are prayerfully seeking the man God has called to fill the position of full-time Pastor.
The Pastor is the under-shepherd of the church, and is responsible to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach Biblical scripture, to engage in pastoral care, and to provide administrative leadership in all areas of church life and function. He should be able to lead collaboratively with the deacons and the church staff to provide opportunities for HBBC members & guests to worship, be discipled toward growth in their walk of faith, and to impact their communities with gospel centered lives. Candidates are expected to stand firm for the sanctity of human life, the sacredness of marriage between one man and one woman, and the fundamental freedom to express our faith in the public arena.
