Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Thermal Engineer for the MK1 Lunar Lander program in California. You will own the passive thermal assemblies from concept through flight operations, collaborating with cross-functional teams to mature designs and ensure mission success.

The role requires hands-on hardware testing, strong documentation, and the ability to develop long-term development plans within a safety-first culture.

Qualifications

• BS in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent.
• 8 years of relevant thermal engineering experience.
• Expertise in thermal design fundamentals.
• Demonstrated experience building and testing thermal hardware.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop passive thermal assemblies from conception to flight operations.
• Support development of passive thermal components and assemblies.
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary product teams to mature designs.
• Work with the thermal analysis group to validate designs.
• Produce component specifications, test plans and reports.
• Analyze thermal performance using calculations and Thermal Desktop models.
• Develop short-term and long-term development plans.
• Make decisions on make-or-buy for thermal components.
