Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a Thermal Engineer to own the design and development of active thermal components for the MK1 Lunar Lander. You will lead from conception through flight operations, interfacing with propulsion, structures, and avionics teams to ensure thermal integrity in challenging space environments.

The role requires a BS in mechanical or aerospace engineering, 5+ years of thermal experience, and strong CAD/analysis skills.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years of relevant Thermal Engineering experience.
• Expertise in thermal and fluid design fundamentals.
• Demonstrated experience building and testing thermal hardware.
• Understanding of aerospace hardware verification and validation process.
• Experience with CAD software; preferably Creo.
• Demonstrated experience in managing hardware EBOMs, drawings and manufacturing artifacts.
• Experience working in a cross-functional team responsible for selecting materials, manufacturing processes, and developing the design to produce world-class engineered products.
• Excellent attention to detail and task ownership, someone who demonstrates pride in all work and willingness to perform low-level tasks when needed.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop module and vehicle level active thermal components from conception through development and flight operations.
• Support internal or external development of active thermal components and assemblies.
• Collaborate with multi-discipline product teams to mature designs.
• Work with the thermal analysis group.
• Produce specifications, test plans, reports and test executions.
• Analyze thermal performance using hand calculations to Thermal Desktop models.
• Develop short- and long-term development plans; decide on make vs buy for thermal components.
