Job summary

The City of Seminole is seeking a semi-skilled Maintenance I worker to perform grounds maintenance, tree work, and facility upkeep across city-owned buildings, parks, and right-of-way areas. Under supervision, you will operate various trucks and equipment and may lead other Maintenance I staff.

Candidates should have at least one year of Maintenance I experience or related field, be capable of heavy manual labor, and hold a valid Florida Class B CDL with tanker endorsement if required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum five years experience in the trades.
• Ability to read blueprints and estimate time/materials.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations for repairs/maintenance.
• Ability to work in extreme weather and independently.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine grounds maintenance (mowing, edging, trimming, planting).
• Remove dying/diseased trees from city properties and rights-of-way.
• Operate bucket truck to trim branches and clear traffic obstructions.
• Inspect and perform maintenance on irrigation systems, playground equipment, and park amenities.
• Lead Maintenance I staff when assigned and ensure safety and policy compliance.
• Respond to emergencies and work extended hours as needed.
