Job summary

The City of Columbia is seeking a Park Maintenance Worker to assist with Three Rivers Greenway operations and related facilities. You will coordinate maintenance, repair, and construction projects on grounds and facilities, and oversee grounds keeping and landscaping to keep park areas attractive, clean, and safe.

The role involves physical tasks including lifting and operating equipment, working under general supervision, and developing work methods within a team environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of relevant prior experience.
• Valid South Carolina Class D Driver’s License.
• Knowledge of basic addition and subtraction.
• Ability to write and speak with poise and confidence, using correct English.

Responsibilities

• Directs the safe operation and maintenance of power and hand tools and equipment.
• Maintains park facilities for public use and prepares facilities for daily use; cleans and sets up facilities as reserved.
• Plans and implements daily duties for staff.
• Establishes priorities for completion of work and schedules tasks accordingly.
• Assists with inventory control of equipment and supplies; performs routine grounds maintenance.
• Provides information and assistance to the public and coordinates public activities and education.
