Job summary

Geneva Park District in Geneva, IL seeks a Parks Maintenance Level 1 to perform landscape care, maintenance of district grounds, athletic fields and buildings. The role follows a five-day week with seasonal weekend work mid-April to mid-October, and daytime hours otherwise, with overtime possible.

Responsibilities include mowing, custodial tasks, general upkeep, tree care, and may involve supervising part-time staff. Valid IL driver's license required; other licenses preferred.

Qualifications

Job DetailsJob Location: Maintenance Facility & Greenhouse- Wheeler Park - Geneva, IL 60134Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $20.19 - $21.63 HourlyParks Maintenance Level 1

Summary: Under the direction of the Superintendent of Parks & Properties & the Assistant Superintendent, the Parks Maintenance Level 1 shall perform maintenance tasks which focus on the timely care and maintenance of District landscapes, athletic fields and buildings. This position works a scheduled five-day work week, which may include a regularly scheduled weekend day during the peak season of active park use, that being mid-April thru Mid-October. During this time, one of the scheduled work days will be either a Saturday or Sunday. The work week for the remainder of the year is typically Monday thru Friday 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Overtime may be required.

Supervisor: All Parks Department Maintenance Employees report to the Assistant Superintendent of Parks, Superintendent of Parks and Properties and the Executive Director.

Marginal Functions

• Assist all employees of the Park District as needed.
• Attend training opportunities and attain certifications relevant to position.

Cognitive and physical requirements

• Resolve differences and problems that arise with patrons and work together with other employees.
• The Parks Department employees must exhibit good problem-solving ability and good judgment in keeping with the mission of the Park District.
• Will be exposed to weather elements when performing outdoor functions. Some activities are performed indoors.
• Handling Park District materials up to 50 pounds. Assistance will be provided when necessary.

Safety Program

• Understand the Park District’s safety procedures and requirements.
• Adherence to all safety protocols including accident reports, emergency safety procedures,
• Timely reporting of hazardous conditions or conduct of any employee under their supervision.
• Report all incidents and potential hazards to the Safety Committee as soon as possible.
