Job summary

The Sr. Paramedic in the Emergency Department at Children's Health will operate under physician direction, performing BLS/ALS skills and supporting the health care team in a high-acuity setting.

You will assist in nursing and respiratory care under delegation, participate in teaching CPR, and help manage the customer service experience for patients and families in a busy hospital environment.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years job related experience.
• 2+ years in emergency/acute care is preferred.
• Pediatric experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training beyond high school required.
• Texas EMT-P or Texas LP licensure required; BLS/ALS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Perform BLS and advanced skills during patient care including IV access and airway management.
• Assist in emergencies with BLS/ALS life-saving skills.
• Document patient care in the EMR per department and hospital policy.
• Administer medications per physician order or protocol.
• Support patient- and family-centered care in all aspects of care.
• Assist in training new staff and providing feedback to leadership.
• Participate in meetings and maintain required training.
• Transport patients to procedures in accordance with hospital policy.
• Support stabilization of critically ill pediatric and neonatal patients as needed.
