Job summary

Tunnel to Towers Foundation, a nonprofit honoring first responders and military heroes, seeks an experienced paralegal to join our Legal Team in New York. You will manage contracts, track deadlines, process invoices, and coordinate with outside counsel for home purchase and trust-related documents.

Responsibilities also include preparing files for recipients, tracking tax payments related to trusts, and handling filings.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience as paralegal.
• Exceptional attention to detail with high accuracy.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities at once.
• Diligent with high ethical standards.

Responsibilities

• Handle general administrative duties including processing invoices, tracking payments, sorting and sending department mail, ordering supplies, etc.
• Track deadlines and terminations of ongoing agreements with third parties, notify staff when an agreement is to be renewed.
• Track the status of contracts to be reviewed or drafted by the department.
• Review intake sheets pertaining to the contract requests.
• Review potential land donation requests and provide assessment on feasibility based on parameters.
• Work with outside counsel to draft home purchase and trust transfer documents.
• Prepare and keep files for recipients.
• Track status of tax payments for recipient homes before and after they have been transferred to trust.
• Track due dates for annual state filings and submit filings in a timely manner.
• Track litigation deadlines and government-imposed deadlines for exemptions, etc.
• Prepare documents for interdepartmental requests.
• Assist legal team in preparing/applications for insurance coverage; work with broker on quotes and bind orders.
